This version of Cronus is based on the canon of Class of the Titans, which means he differs from the traditional mythological version in a few ways: he’s specifically the god of time more than agriculture, he’s stated to have killed his father Uranus and he knows a world of gods and monsters that don’t correspond precisely to standard mythology.

Having been imprisoned in Tartarus for thousands of years, Cronus recently broke free with a few giants in tow. He’s currently seeking a means to wreak revenge on the gods who dethroned him, retake his rightful place as ruler of the world and break a pesky little prophecy stating that he’ll be defeated by seven mortal heroes…

There’s some indication that he takes all of this less than completely seriously. After four thousand years sitting on the sidelines, a god can't be blamed for having some fun along the way.
